Opis stanowiska
We are seeking an experienced Android BSP (Board Support Package) Developer to join our established client's team. In this role, you will be responsible for building, customizing, and stabilizing the operating system layer for custom hardware platforms. This is a highly technical role focused on low-level firmware initialization, Linux kernel customization, and Android Open Source Project (AOSP) compilation. You will bridge the gap between custom physical hardware and upper-layer Android frameworks, ensuring optimal system stability, security, and performance.
Details
• Role: Android BSP Developer
• Seniority: Senior / Mid-Senior
• Allocation: Full-time (1 FTE)
• Start Date: ASAP
• Rate: 120-140 pln/h net B2B
• Work Model: Remote / Hybrid with mandatory business travel (delegations) to the client’s office in Warsaw as required by the hardware integration phases.
Responsibilities
• Board Bring-Up: Lead the boot process of new custom hardware platforms from scratch, initializing bootloaders and configuring low-level firmware.
• Kernel & Driver Development: Customize and optimize the Linux Kernel; write, port, and debug device drivers for hardware peripherals (including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cameras, displays, touchscreens, and various sensors).
• HAL Implementation: Design and implement Hardware Abstraction Layers (HAL) to enable seamless, secure communication between Android framework APIs and underlying hardware components.
• AOSP & Image Building: Compile and configure the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) to generate optimized, modular OS images (such as boot.img, vendor.img, and system.img).
• Testing & Certification: Oversee and execute Google Mobile Services (GMS) certification suites—including CTS (Compatibility Test Suite), GTS, and VTS—to ensure full platform compliance
Requirements
• Core Programming: Advanced proficiency in C and C++ (essential for low-level system code) and working knowledge of Java (for HAL-to-framework connectivity).
• OS Internals: Deep, expert-level understanding of the Linux kernel, memory management, device trees, and concurrency models.
• Build Systems & Workflows: Hands-on experience with Android Build System tools and commands (e.g., lunch, m) alongside version control systems like Git and Gerrit.
• Low-Level Debugging: Mastery of hardware and software troubleshooting tools, including JTAG hardware debuggers, gdb, adb, and fastboot.
• Travel Flexibility: Full readiness for on-site hardware alignment and integration sessions at the client's laboratory/office in Warsaw.
