Job Overview
As an Engineering Manager, work with teams in Eschborn (Frankfurt), Neuenstein (Eastern Hesse), and Portugal (Lisbon) on the core business systems behind the parcel delivery network. These systems enable more than 1 million parcels to be delivered in Germany every day.
In this role, you create the conditions for engineers and teams to succeed. You connect business priorities with engineering execution, support strong collaboration between product and technology, and help teams grow in a sustainable, quality-driven way. With your combination of people leadership and technical understanding, you strengthen both the team and the software it delivers.
Do you have what it takes to deliver not just “Parcels to People” but also empowered teams, reliable software, and engineering excellence? Then apply for the position as a Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Own delivery execution and support alignment with the technology roadmap;
• Drive sustainable, predictable, and high-quality software delivery;
• Act as line manager for engineers, including coaching, feedback, staffing, and performance management;
• Bring technology direction and engineering best practices into the team;
• Focus on engineering quality, maintainability, and operational excellence;
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners and business stakeholders to align delivery with business priorities;
• Act as the technical counterpart to the Product Owner within the team;
• Shape and help implement our technology strategy, drive standardization, and improvement initiatives;
• Foster a collaborative, accountable, and improvement-oriented engineering culture;
• Participate actively in the day-to-day work of agile product teams.
What we need
• 5+ years of experience in an engineering role, such as QA Engineering, Software Engineering, or a comparable technical role;
• Experience in leading, coaching, or developing engineers or engineering teams;
• A proven track-record of combining people leadership with technical judgment and delivery ownership;
• Strong understanding of engineering quality, maintainability, testability, and operational excellence;
• Ability to translate business priorities into realistic and sustainable team execution;
• Confidence in working closely with Product Owners, stakeholders, Agile Leads, and engineering roles;
• Strong communication skills, accountability, and a collaborative leadership style;
• Passion for building healthy, empowered, and continuously improving teams;
• Excellent English skills, written and spoken;
• Willingness to travel occasionally within Europe.
