Google Workspace SME (Cybersecurity Advisory)

Role Overview
We are seeking a Google Workspace Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a portfolio of clients in optimizing their cloud environments and strengthening their cybersecurity. This role combines hands-on technical expertise, strategic advisory, and second-line support, focusing on incremental improvements, cybersecurity maturity growth, and flexible service delivery models. The SME will work across diverse organizations, requiring adaptability and a strong ability to co-create sustainable IT practices. The engagement is designed as a part-time, flexible partnership that begins with a discovery phase and ad hoc support, with the opportunity to develop into a long-term collaboration.
Main Responsibilities
1. Cybersecurity foundation & maturity growth:
• Build and improve cybersecurity maturity from a low starting point.
• Implement core controls such as identity protection, password policies, and admin security and auditing.
• Define step-by-step, pragmatic security roadmaps.
2. Google Workspace administration & optimization:
• Act as a technical expert for Google Workspace environments.
• Manage and support user lifecycle (onboarding/offboarding), access management, and data/storage optimization.
• Ensure best practices across Google Workspace tools and support cloud-native environments.
3. Advisory & client collaboration:
• Serve as a trusted advisor to IT and business stakeholders.
• Translate technical topics into clear business value and drive security awareness.
4. Discovery & Continuous Improvement:
• Conduct assessments and stakeholder interviews, as well as maturity and risk evaluations.
• Deliver current-state analysis and actionable roadmap.
Key Requirements
• Strong experience with Google Workspace (administration + security), including relevant certifications.
• Experience with IAM and identity governance.
• Ability to implement security measures from scratch.
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills.
• Cybersecurity expertise, particularly in improving low-maturity environments.
• Strong understanding of practical, scalable controls and exposure to security awareness/phishing tools.
Nice to Have
• Experience in the NGO/public sector.
• Knowledge of EU data/security regulations.
• Exposure to AI in SaaS environments.
